The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially announced the much-anticipated results for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) December 2025 session. This crucial screening test, a gateway for foreign-trained medical professionals to practice in India, saw a significant number of aspiring doctors participate.
A total of 43,933 candidates appeared for the rigorous examination, which was conducted on January 17, 2026. Out of this vast pool, 10,264 individuals have successfully cleared the test, marking a pivotal moment in their medical careers. Candidates eager to ascertain their qualifying status can now do so by visiting the official NBEMS website, natboard.edu.in. This announcement brings both relief and renewed focus for thousands across the nation.
Further details regarding individual scorecards have also been provided. According to the official notification from NBEMS, candidates will be able to download their personal scorecards for the FMGE December 2025 session from the NBEMS website on or after February 6, 2026. It is imperative for all candidates to secure and preserve these scorecards, as they will only be available for download for a limited period of six months from the date of issuance. The board has explicitly stated that requests for scorecards beyond this stipulated window will not be entertained, and the documents will cease to be hosted on the NBEMS portal after this period.
In a move to ensure fairness and accuracy, NBEMS undertook a comprehensive review process for the FMGE December 2025 question paper. Following the examination, every single question was meticulously reviewed by a panel of expert faculty members from the relevant specialty areas. This rigorous process aimed to re-check the technical correctness of all questions and their corresponding answer keys. During this detailed scrutiny, one question was identified as technically incorrect, and full marks for this question have been generously awarded to all candidates who appeared for the examination. Additionally, another instance revealed a question with two viable correct answers; in such cases, marks have been duly awarded to candidates who selected either of the correct options, reinforcing NBEMS's commitment to equitable evaluation.
The journey does not end with the result declaration. NBEMS has outlined the subsequent steps for qualified candidates regarding their FMGE Pass Certificates. These certificates, essential for further registration, will be distributed exclusively through an in-person mode. This procedure necessitates a thorough verification of identity and credentials to ensure authenticity and prevent any discrepancies. The detailed schedule for this crucial in-person verification and the subsequent distribution of pass certificates will be announced separately on the NBEMS website. It is important to note that the declared result remains provisional and is subject to the successful completion of this in-person verification process.
NBEMS has also issued a significant clarification regarding the utility of the FMGE scorecard versus the FMGE Pass Certificate. The scorecard issued by NBEMS cannot be submitted to any State Medical Council (SMC) as a substitute for the official FMGE Pass Certificate for registration purposes. To streamline the verification process for State Medical Councils, NBEMS will directly provide all SMCs with digitally signed results in MS Excel format. This direct communication aims to facilitate the verification of FMGE Pass Certificates submitted by qualified candidates. The digitally signed PDF result published on the website serves solely for notifying candidates of their individual outcomes. State Medical Councils have been advised to securely preserve these digitally signed results for future verification needs, and NBEMS will not entertain requests for verification by the councils once this data has been provided.
Candidates are reminded that their candidature for the FMGE December 2025 session is purely provisional. It is contingent upon the complete fulfillment of all eligibility criteria as detailed in the FMGE December 2025 Information Bulletin. Should any ineligibility be discovered at any stage of the examination process, the candidature will be promptly cancelled, irrespective of whether the result has been declared or a pass certificate has already been issued. Furthermore, NBEMS maintains a strict stance against unfair means. Any detection of such practices at any point will lead to severe repercussions, dealt with in accordance with the NBEMS Unfair Means Guidelines and applicable criminal provisions.
In specific cases, the results of four candidates have been temporarily withheld. The precise reasons for these withheld results are being communicated individually to the affected candidates via email, ensuring transparency and direct communication. For any further queries, clarifications, or assistance, candidates are encouraged to reach out to NBEMS directly at 011-45593000 or to raise a query through the dedicated NBEMS Communication Web Portal.
