In a crucial announcement bringing clarity and relief to thousands of students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has confirmed that Class 10 results for candidates across Middle Eastern countries will be released concurrently with those for students in other regions. This decision follows the unprecedented cancellation of certain examinations previously scheduled in the region, a move made to prioritize student safety and well-being amidst prevailing circumstances.
The board issued an official notification detailing its revised approach after a thorough review of the situation in countries including Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The remaining Class 10 examinations in these nations were called off, paving the way for a streamlined assessment process that aims to ensure fairness and equity for all affected students. While the declaration of results is imminent, the specific mode of their release will be communicated separately by the board in due course.
It is important to note that a significant portion of the examination schedule had already been successfully completed. Examinations conducted between February 17 and February 28 saw students appearing for a diverse range of subjects, including core papers like Mathematics, English, and Science, alongside various language and skill-based papers. These successfully completed assessments will form a foundational part of the final evaluation.
To ensure a transparent and equitable evaluation process for all students, especially those whose examinations were curtailed, CBSE has outlined a comprehensive assessment scheme:
- For Students Who Completed All Exams: Their final results will be based entirely on their performance across all papers appeared for, reflecting a direct measure of their academic achievement.
- For Students Who Appeared in Four Subjects: For any papers that could not be conducted, their assessment will be determined by calculating the average marks obtained in their best three performing subjects from those they did appear for. This mechanism aims to provide a balanced evaluation.
- For Students Who Appeared in Three Subjects: Similarly, for the remaining papers that were not conducted, their results will be based on the average of the marks secured in their best two subjects from the completed examinations.
- For Students Who Appeared in Two Subjects: In cases where students only appeared for two subjects, the average of the marks obtained in these two papers will be applied to the remaining subjects, ensuring a consistent and fair assessment for all.
- Special Provisions for Private and Compartment Candidates: The board has made specific provisions for certain private and compartment candidates. If any of their examinations remain outstanding under this scheme, they will be granted a valuable opportunity to appear in the second board examinations, safeguarding their academic future.
Beyond the core assessment framework, the board has also clarified several other pivotal points:
- Students with Centre Shifts: For students who had shifted their examination centres to other countries, their evaluation will be solely based on their performance in the examinations they successfully appeared for, simplifying the process for this specific group.
- Internal Assessment Integration: The internal assessment component, which had already been completed and uploaded by schools, will be fully considered as part of the final evaluation, acknowledging the continuous efforts of students and teachers.
- Opportunity for Performance Improvement: Students will be afforded the flexibility to improve their performance in subsequent board examinations, in line with established board policies, providing a chance for those who wish to enhance their grades.
- Finality of Results: The results prepared under this meticulously designed assessment scheme will be considered final. It has been explicitly stated that no special examination will be conducted outside the purview of the board's declared policy, bringing finality to the current academic cycle.
The board further assured stakeholders that any additional measures deemed necessary during the intricate process of result preparation would be deliberated and decided upon by the competent authority, underscoring its commitment to a robust and fair outcome for all Class 10 students in the Middle East.
