As the highly anticipated Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Board Exams 2026 approach, students, parents, and educators are urged to take note of crucial new guidelines designed to ensure a smooth, fair, and secure examination process. Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, the Controller of Examinations at CBSE, has officially announced stringent measures, primarily focusing on examination centre entry times and a detailed bell schedule, aimed at enhancing the overall integrity of the exams.

A primary directive issued by Dr. Bhardwaj mandates a strict adherence to entry timings for all candidates. For the morning shift papers, which are scheduled to commence promptly at 10:30 AM, students will not be granted admission to the examination centres after 10:00 AM. This firm deadline is being enforced to allow for the orderly distribution of question papers, which will begin at 10:15 AM, and to prevent any last-minute disruptions that could affect the concentration of students already seated. The examination will then proceed and conclude precisely according to the duration allotted for each specific paper.

While the rules are firm, the board has made essential provisions for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates. Recognizing their unique needs, these students will be granted the prescribed additional time to complete their examinations, ensuring an equitable and supportive environment for all participants.

In a significant update aimed at helping students manage their time effectively during the exam, Dr. Bhardwaj also unveiled a meticulously planned "bell schedule." This system is designed to provide clear and unambiguous signals within the examination hall. Unlike previous years, a distinct, longer-duration bell will be utilized to mark key junctures of the examination. For instance, a single, clear bell will sound to indicate that precisely ten minutes remain before the paper concludes, allowing students a final opportunity to review their answers. Subsequently, a longer, more emphatic bell will signal the definitive end of the examination, after which no further writing will be permitted.

The board’s communication highlights the importance of proactive planning for all students. Given the strict entry time, all candidates are strongly advised to meticulously plan their commute to the examination centres. Factors such as local traffic conditions, prevailing weather patterns, and the distance from home to the centre must be carefully considered to ensure timely arrival on every examination day. To facilitate this, all affiliated schools have been instructed to proactively guide and assist both students and their parents in preparing for the logistics of exam days. Furthermore, students are highly encouraged to visit their assigned examination centres well in advance of the first paper to familiarise themselves with the location and optimal travel routes.

Superintendents overseeing the examination centres have also received specific instructions to ensure a conducive testing environment. A crucial directive is to refrain from disturbing students during the initial 15-minute reading time allocated for question papers. This period is vital for students to comprehend the paper fully and strategize their approach, and an undisturbed environment is paramount for its effective utilization.
