Agra, Uttar Pradesh – A shocking incident of a brutal murder has sent ripples of horror through the city of Agra. Police have arrested a man identified as Vinay, an accountant, in connection with the gruesome killing of Minki Sharma, a 30-year-old Human Resources manager, who worked alongside him at a private company.
The horrifying details emerging from the ongoing investigation suggest a crime of passion, where a spurned marriage proposal allegedly escalated into an act of extreme violence. According to police officials, Ms. Sharma and Vinay were reportedly involved in a romantic relationship. However, when Ms. Sharma declined Vinay’s proposal for marriage, it purportedly triggered a severe dispute between the two, leading to the tragic events that unfolded.
The tragic sequence of events is believed to have culminated on the night of January 24. Following an intense argument, Vinay is accused of repeatedly assaulting Ms. Sharma with a sharp knife, typically used for cutting coconuts. The brutal attack included a fatal blow to her neck, leading to her untimely demise. In a chilling act that followed, the perpetrator then allegedly dismembered Ms. Sharma's body. The remains were carefully packed into a plastic bag, which was subsequently sealed with parcel tape. Her head was placed in a separate sack.
In an attempt to conceal his heinous crime, Vinay reportedly tried to dispose of the body parts. Initial reports indicate he intended to throw the sack containing the dismembered body into the Yamuna River. However, for reasons yet unclear, he abandoned the package on a bridge before fleeing the scene. The separate sack containing Ms. Sharma's head was then allegedly thrown into a canal, prompting extensive search operations by divers who have been tirelessly pressed into service to locate it.
The dedicated efforts of the local police, particularly from the Agra district, led to a swift breakthrough in the case. Utilising extensive CCTV footage gathered from the vicinity and crucial evidence meticulously collected from the company's office premises, investigators were able to identify and apprehend Vinay on January 25, merely a day after the horrific incident. The woman’s body was promptly sent for a thorough post-mortem examination to ascertain further details surrounding her death.
Authorities have confirmed the recovery of key evidence pertinent to the investigation. The knife allegedly used in the crime, along with the scooter Vinay is believed to have used during the events, and certain clothes, have all been successfully recovered. A case has been formally registered against the accused under Sections 103 (1) (murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The community remains gripped by shock and sorrow as the investigation continues. Police have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to bring full justice to the victim and her family, while the intensive search for the missing body part continues in the canals of Agra. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences when personal disputes tragically turn violent.
